Part III at 5pm - The Ken Barelli "Classic Victoria" featured two of the most important collections of Victoria formed in recent times, the International Gold Medal "Half-lengths" and National Grand Prix "Emblems". The Half-length collection covers all printings with mint, used, covers and probably the finest holding of retouches and other printing stone varieties - all in the finest available condition. The collection is replete with material from the famous collections of the past, and contains the largest concentration of major pieces to appear on the market for many years. The Emblems collection is the finest collection of these issues ever formed and includes virtually everything of importance. The Emblems issues are noteworthy for the large number of very rare varieties of rouletting, perforation and paper, and every one of these is to be found in the Barelli collection. The essays, proofs and mint multiples are likewise without parallel. |
