    1d green pairs (2, SG 84a), Beaded Oval 4d and Perkins Bacon 6d tied by Barred Numeral \\\'1\\\' to 1860 (25 Jul) cover Melbourne to U.S., paying 1/2 ½oz rate via U.K., and showing U.S. framed oval \\\'NEW YORK POST OFFICE/ADVERTISED\\\' and U.K. \\\'SENT BACK TO ENGLAND/WITHOUT A REASON/ FOR NON-DELIVERY\\\', apparently on account of inadequate address. Cover tear at left not unduly detracting from this rare and colourful franking. Ex Perry

    4d rose-carmine vertical pair rouletted between to correct imperforate variety. This unique item is catalogued by Scott (#45b - incorrectly classified as \\\'imperf between\\\' which does not exist as such). However, despite having reposed respectively in the Ferrary, Burrus, Purves and Perry collections, it has not been catalogued by SG, an oversight which deserves to be remedied.     4d rose-pink (thick paper), SG 85a, marginal pair from top of sheet showing rouletting at top, cancelled BN \\\'60\\\' (Maldon). One other example, a single similarly cancelled, is recorded and it has been suggested that this rouletting was performed at Maldon to separate the large double sheets received from the G.P.O.
