Plate Proof: Red-brown corner pair [9-10] without corner letters on thin card paper, vertical crease in left unit tending towards a tear (largely in top margin). Unique. This pair and two singles are the only examples of this proof outside of The Royal Collection. Illustrated Kellow page 66
Lot 1292
Estimate: $3,000
2d reddish brown, rare chestnut ([9] and [23]) and purple-brown shades, SG 18/b, complete reconstruction of the 50 units in a sheet, large-margined very fine to superb, scarcer cancels including Butterfly \\\'3\\\' and Barred Oval \\\'17\\\'. The finest quality reconstruction ever assembled. Ex Perry
Lot 1293
Estimate: $300
2d chestnut [10], SG 18a, full-margined, lightly cancelled rare Barred Oval \\\'12\\\' (Maiden\\\'s Punt), tiny thin at left mostly in margin. This shade is so rare (Kellow records only 15 examples) as to suggest that it may be of colour trial status, the known examples ranging from pale to deep chestnut. The catalogue value of £120 misleads as to its rarity
2d chestnut [24], SG 18a, large-margined, cancelled rare Barred Oval \\\'51\\\' (Sandridge). Ex Perry
Lot 1296
Estimate: $750
2d chestnut [30], SG 18a, pale chestnut which Kellow refers to as particularly rare, large-margined, cancelled Barred Oval \\\'1\\\' (Melbourne). Ex Gartner, Perry
