Our first auction for 2004 contained much important material for the collector of Australia, Australian Colonies and Oceania. We were privileged to offer the property of many vendors, notably the Estate of the Late W R Carpenter. The sale commenced with a rarely offered selection of Australian and British Pacific Specimens from the archive of Portuguese India (Goa). Also featured were fine and rare Banknotes of the Australian Colonies, Cocos-Keeling Is (including the earliest known) and the Pacific area; Australian Colonies stamps and covers including a superb offering of Tasmanian Sideface issues; a fine range of Australian Commonwealth, with modern Booklet rarities and a great selection of Postage Dues; Rest of the World sets, better singles and covers, with Falkland Islands, Great Britain errors, Papua New Guinea modern errors and booklets; plus mixed lots and accumulations. |
