    Estimate: $400

    1850s-1900s (mostly later period) accumulation with many Numeral and datestamp cancellations (noted 1870 scarce McCullum's Creek), Taxed and Registered's, perfin, 1893 'UNCLAIMED AT/CURLEWIS' (stamp excised), Ship endorsements (9), etc, condition varied at times (100+ items)

    Estimate: $100 Realised Price : $140

    1858 (15th July) covers Melbourne to Edinburgh (2) bearing 2d and 4d Emblems, cancelled barred numeral "1"; also 1863 (26th May) cover to Edinburgh "via Marseilles" bearing 3d blue Beaded Oval and 6d Adopted Design, cancelled by Melbourne duplex. Cover flaps torn and some staining (3 covers)

    Estimate: $400

    1860-1900s (mostly later period) accumulation with many Numeral and datestamp cancellations (noted 1906 English Mail T.P.O.), Taxed and Registered's, 1914 Commonwealth Military Forces with Paid cancel and handstruck 'Not known' marking, etc, condition varied at times (100+ items), also 1864-1901 extracts from Victoria Govt Gazette with philatelic interest and notes by pioneer philatelist Rev J.C.W. Brown

    Estimate: $250

    1860 (10th Apr) 'REGISTERED LETTER' receipt for a letter addressed from U.K. to 'Geelong Road/Footscray/Victoria' with Old Cavendish Street incoming and outgoing datestamp. A rare survivor - the only example to Victoria we have recorded

    Estimate: $800 Realised Price : $650

    1861 (Nov) stampless entire with framed cachet in black 'Saved from the wreck o(f)/the Colombo.', returned where 'LC/MA 22/1862' within black oval and 'ADVERTISED/AND/UNCLAIMED' have been applied

     

    Lot 488
    Estimate: $1,000 Realised Price : $800

    1865 (25th May) envelope Keilor to Edinburgh, with 2d & 4d Laureates cancelled mss. "56", overstruck "1" in blue at Melbourne, reverse endorsed mss. "Keilor/25/5/65/Vic". The original '56' obliterator is rated RRRRR in Freeman's and White's "Numeral Cancellations"; this significant new find suggests an accident(?) resulted in the early loss of both numeral and datestamp. Few minor faults do not detract

     

    Lot 489
    Estimate: $150 Realised Price : $115

    1909 (8th Oct) registered envelope (318x130mm) to Tasmania bearing 3d Yellow and 2/- Blue/Pink tied by 'R' within black circle, datestamp alongside, Ulverstone arrival backstamp, folded for display purposes. Attractive example of 6oz rate + 3d registration

    Picture Postcards: Early 1900s selection of unused and used with Country scenes predominating, includes real photo types, generally fine (76), also c.1930s real photo smaller format cards of Dandenongs (12) and Omeo (8) together with original 'covers'
