    Estimate: $5,500Starting Price: $4,200

1958 8d Trans-Tasman Anniversary, a magnificent handpainted design by J.E. Lyle in blue on thick board (203mm x 295mm) similar to that adopted but with a different portrait of Charles Kingsford Smith, prepared for the New Zealand 6d issue. A superb item for either the Australian or New Zealand collector. Lyle was commissioned by the New Zealand Post Office to prepare the design, with the Australian Post Office adopting the same design for the joint issue. For this reason, the Australia Post archival collection contains no handpainted essays for this issue
