Six examples were prepared at the request of Ormond Hill in 1861, and presented to colleagues,
including his uncle, Rowland Hill. Four examples of the 4d have been recorded from the vertical block of six, of which this is No. 3; No. 2 is in the Royal Philatelic Collection

Both the 1871 and 1879 reprints were made for presentation and exchange purposes and only 480 of each were printed
