1946 (30 Sep) airmail cover to Port Moresby from East Gosford (NSW) with 2½d pair tied by cds, underpaid ½d for 5½d airmail rate, and manuscript 'T 1D' added in pencil, on arrival an Australian 1d Brown-purple Queen Elizabeth was affixed and cancelled by double oval 'POST OFFICE/PORT MORESBY P.N.G.' ds in purple. Very fine, and a rare use of a postage stamp to indicate postage due in the early post-war period |
