    FINE AND RARE STAMPS 2008, AUSTRALIAN COLONIES, VICTORIA, 1860-66 BEADED OVALS

    Lot 170
    Estimate: $300 Realised Price : $525

    Selection including mint 4d Dull Rose (patchy gum) and 6d Grey-Black (part o.g); used 3d Maroon (2), both showing horizontal line flaw [one overscored in ink], plus 2d Emblems (3) and 1d Netted Corners in a distinct dark shade (8). Cat £284

     

    Lot 171
    Estimate: $800 Realised Price : $1,300

    3d Blue selection with used block of seven (the second largest recorded multiple), a range of cracked electros (7 used, 1 unused and 1 mint), 1902 CTO (2) and Reprint, two plated pairs, two print 'through' the paper varieties and a further used example with dramatic paper crease. A fine assembly (29)

     

    Lot 172
    Estimate: $600 Realised Price : $900

    Wmk 'words of value' 3d Blue Perf 12, SG 90a, extraordinary used block of eight showing vertical gutter and substitution of position D21 (II), tied to piece cancelled with Sandhurst duplex (25 Sep 1862), slight staining. Believed to be the largest used multiple of this issue

     

    Lot 173
    Estimate: $500

    3d Blue unused vertical strips of nine and five (2), and a horizontal strip of five, on original backing paper from a Post Office Display for the 1866 International Exhibition in Melbourne. A total of nine units damaged, nevertheless a unique group, with the vertical multiples being the largest recorded (24)

    Wmk Single-lined '4' 4d Dull Rose-Pink Perf 12 pair, SG 95, with vertical selvedge showing complete marginal imprint 'ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY STAMPS IN EACH SHEET, VALUE TWO POUNDS', original (browned) gum. Very rare
