On the outbound journey this was carried by Flight IE309 in which 'Athena' force-landed at Surabaya NEI due to a broken exhaust (confirmed by Sydney arrival Feb 9). Very few examples of this little known near tragic 'Athena' incident, prior to the catastrophic event of Sep 30 1936, are recorded |
