Lot 1145		Estimate: $300 1935 (23 Jan) airmail cover from Skipton GB to Hotel Windsor Melbourne, where unclaimed, 'Not Known . . .' and rare 'RETURNED TO/CITY SECTION FROM' handstruck markings, Hotel label affixed and returned to sender. On the outbound journey this was carried by Flight IE309 in which 'Athena' force-landed at Surabaya NEI due to a broken exhaust (confirmed by Sydney arrival Feb 9). Very few examples of this little known near tragic 'Athena' incident, prior to the catastrophic event of Sep 30 1936, are recorded
