    1851-52 1d Orange-brown Laureate on Thick Vertically Laid Bluish Paper, horizontal pair with close but clear margins all round, and very rare as such, a very desirable pair. SG 49, cat £950

    1852-53 6d Grey-brown Laureate Plate I, just touched at top and slightly cut into at lower left, portion of adjoining stamp showing at right, tied by barred obliterator on 1853 (10 Jan) outer from Sydney to London, endorsed 'p Kate'. Double ship letter rate, with 2 x 8d due from addressee, despatch and arrival backstamps. A very fine solo franking of this difficult stamp

An exceptional lot, SG 77-78, cat £975 (3)

    1854 Watermark Double-lined Numeral 3d Yellow-green Laureate Error 'Wmk Double-lined 2', clear margins top and right, just touching other two sides, cancelled Sydney barred obliterator. An excellent example of this rare stamp. SG 87b, cat £1800
