1859 (16 Jul) cover Melbourne to Warsaw endorsed 'pr Northam' bearing 1/- Octagonal, 1d Emblem Perf 12 and 2d Emblem Rouletted pair tied by Melbourne BN '1'. Underpaid by ½d (via Southampton) though missent via Marseilles, routed via Paris where the capsule 'F./39' handstamp applied (three examples recorded on mail from Australia) and charged a final '65½' kopecks on arrival, with Melbourne, Marseilles, Paris and Warsaw backstamps. [The Northam was stranded on a reef in the Red Sea en route and the mail and passengers landed on the island of Myetta, however the ship eventually got clear after five days].
