1856 1d and 3d Diadems: 1854 original estimate prepared by Postmaster-General Raymond for the procurement of steel printing plates plus printing inks from England for 1d and 3d postage stamps. Affixed in the margin of the first page are unused examples of the 1d Orange-vermilion and 3d Yellow-green Wmk Numerals of Value (1d fine with margins all round, 3d touched at right). Some splitting along folds and some repairs have been made to some tears, nevertheless a remarkable and highly significant document. This estimate was forwarded to Messrs Perkins Bacon & Co. who provided tenders for the two stamps, resulting in the production of the 1d and 3d Diadems.

1856 1d Diadem Die Proof in Black on india paper impressed on card (50mm x 52mm), some slight soiling clear of design. Probably only six examples were originally produced, this is believed to be the only one on which the india paper has not been reduced to stamp size

1854-60 Diadems Watermark Double-lined Numerals Imperf 1d Orange-Red error 'Printed Both Sides' unused without gum showing strong misplaced impression on reverse, with black mark towards base. The only recorded unused example of this error of which a total of only three are recorded, one of the used examples being in the Royal Collection. Ex Hutson and 'Manwood', with 1932 RPSL Certificate

1856-60 Diadems Imperforate 2d Blue Plate I irregular block of 15 [pos 12/23-24/31-36/43-48] mint with part OG, unit [24] with extensive retouch (third state) to much of stamp, unit [36] with retouch to top and right panels. [43] with torn corner and vertical tear between [33] and [34], two units with pinholes and some creasing, however of fine facial appearance. Despite the faults, this block is of major technical importance and must be considered one of the most important multiples of Australian Colonial philately, with unused examples of any of the retouches being of the greatest rarity. Ex Ginger and Hutson, with 2013 RPSL Certificate.

1856-60 Diadems Imperf 2d Blue Plate II strip of 3 (touched top and right) used on 1860 (12 Dec) cover from Sydney to Gladstone Qld, cancelled 'NSW' duplex, endorsed 'per Telegraph', reverse with Brisbane transit and Gladstone arrival (DE 22 60) datestamps. The Imperf 2d Plate II were only issued in Queensland, and this very rare use in New South Wales was possibly by a traveller writing home. A very significant cover from the Ginger, Gordon Kaye, 'Manwood' and Stevenson collections

1854 Diadems Die Proof of Queen's had Vignette in Black on india paper impressed on card (75mm x 107mm), fine and ex Hutson, 'Manwood' and 'Alvarado'; 6d and 1/- Progressive Die Proofs with blank value and labels in Black on india paper impressed on card (69mm x 80mm and 57mm x 92mm respectively), 6d with small stain spot well clear of design, each ex Yardley, Hutson, 'Manwood' and 'Alvarado'. Three examples of the Queen's Head proof and 6d recorded, and two only of the 1/- recorded, with one of each in the Royal Collection. A magnificent and important set, each with 2013 RPSL Certificate (3)
