Welcome to our 78th sale, which was an online auction only, comprising 1,099 lots featuring a wide range of Australasian and All-World material.
All Australian Colonies are represented, with many fine stamps and individual rarities, and a fine range of New South Wales and postage dues on cover.
Australian Commonwealth includes small but choice selection of bicoloured Kangaroos with plate varieties, the George V issues have several large used accumulations on piece with plenty of variety and postmark interest, 1d Red shades, and an excellent group of 1d Red, Violet and Green plate varieties in combination and positional pieces. The Decimal issues include a fine range of errors, especially of the peel and stick issues. The Postage Dues include a good range of monograms and imprints on the bicoloured issues, as well as some interesting covers.
Postal Stationery includes the third offering from one of the most extensive collections of Pictorial Lettercards ever formed. This time the 1918-25 issues are offered, with all issues well represented, and with examples of several of the most important rarities, including the 1924 1½d on 2d Orange, and the 1924 1½d Red ‘Burrinjuck Dam (in Flood)’. There are also 13 proofs and paper trials for the 1½d and 2d issues, representing the greater proportion of these proofs in private hands.
Rest of the World comprises stamps from a wide range of countries, including a number of scarcer European stamps and sets in MUH condition, 1935 Silver Jubilee plate varieties, missing colours and other errors. The India 1856 ½a De La Rue imperforate used on cover must be a great rarity.
