Our autumn sale commenced with Collections and Accumulations, featuring several carton lots, and a small Literature group, followed by Australian Colonies. Highlights included in New South Wales a very fine lithographed 2d Diadem with retouch; South Australia 1890 Postal Conference presentation book; and Victoria Queen-on-Throne issues, important Woodblock covers and a KEVII Die Proof.
Australian Commonwealth included Kangaroos to £2, with the 5/- First Wmk showing doubly printed frame, King George V imprints and unmounted singles, fine Postage Due adhesives and imprints, and Postal Stationery featured the very rare KGV 1d Red Die II Wrapper.
Rest of the World highlights included better items from Antigua, Bahamas varieties, Ceylon, Great Britain, Hong Kong including proofs, Lesotho errors, Mauritius, NWPI including the Kangaroo 2½d with missing fraction, New Zealand, Norfolk Island proof, Papua New Guinea post-WWII airmails, Saint Helena and Sierra Leone essay. Also featured were a wonderful and diverse group of rare Receiving Authority Specimen stamps from Gold Coast, East Africa and Uganda Protectorates, Orange Free State, Orange River Colony and Sudan. |
