    1850 (12 Jan) entire to Boston franked 1841 1d (three margins) and cut-to-shape 1/- Embossed tied by Liverpool '466' numerals, endorsed 'per "Niagara" ', with straight-line 'PAID' and '5/CENTS' accountancy mark, both in red. Fine appearance

    1855 (2 Feb) entire to New York with 1/- Green Embossed (just touched at top) cancelled Liverpool '466' spoon, endorsed 'Asia Steamer via Boston', with curved 'PAID' in red overlapping '5/CENTS' accountancy handstamp. Very fine and attractive

    1856 (1 Feb) cover with 1d Watermark Large Crown Perf 14 tied by Belfast 62 'Spoon' duplex in greenish-blue, Lurgan and Moira arrival backstamps

    1858 (Feb 11) cover with 1d Wmk Large Crown Perf 14 (cut with scissors and straight edge at top and partly at right and base) tied by Pearson Hill Code A London machine canceller. Filing hole at upper left, otherwise very fine and scarce

    1864 (24 Apr) cover from Dublin to Mauritius with 1862-64 4d Plate 4 'IF' and 6d Plate 3 'FB' tied by Dublin '186' duplexes, Mauritius and Souillac backstamps (24 and 25 MY 64 respectively), and with '4½d' accountancy handstamp in red. Few flap tears, and a fine example of the 10d via Marseilles rate

    1867 (25 Mar) entire to Oporto, Portugal, franked with 1867-80 6d Plate 6 strip of 3 lettered 'PJ-PL' cancelled indistinct obliterators, endorsed 'Via France & Spain', with oval 'PD' in red, oval framed 'FRANCA', and London despatch and Porto arrival backstamps. Stained at right, otherwise fine

    1870 (Aug 3) entire to Oporto, Portugal, franked 1867-80 6d Plate 8 wing-margin pair lettered 'QG-QH' tied by London '90' duplexes, endorsed 'Portugal via France' and with oval framed 'FRANCA' and Porto arrival backstamp (8 8 70), fine

    Estimate: $750 Realised Price : $575

    1875 (29 Oct) cover from London to Cairo with 1864 1d Plate 178 strip of 3 and 1870 ½d Plate 10 tied by 'E/30' duplexes, and with boxed 'L1' late fee mark (hence 2½d U.P.U. rate plus 1d late fee), arrival cds of 10 Nov 75 on face. Manuscript endorsement 'Trovata in bucca in queste state' (found in the letter box in this condition) and sealed with two paper labels of the Cairo Khedival Post. Light vertical fold and some light staining, still a scarce and intriguing item

    1877 (13 Apr) cover to Herzogenbuchsee, Switzerland with 1870 ½d Plate 10 pair [CQ-CR] and 1½d Rose-red Plate 3 [PG] tied by 'EXCHANGE/LIVERPOOL' 466 duplexes, and with arrival backstamp. Back flap missing, but an attractive and scarce make-up of the 2½d U.P.U. rate

    1877 (15 Apr) 1d Pink stationery envelope (dated die 30 10 75) uprated with 1870 ½d Plate 10 [KP] and 1d Rose-red Plate 102 [MH] to Amsterdam, tied by 'BLACKROCK/DUBLIN' 67 duplexes and with arrival backstamp. A very fine and attractive make-up of the 2½d U.P.U. rate

     

    Lot 752
    Estimate: $100

    1879 (10 Sep) 1d Brown postcard uprated with 1870 ½d Plate 11 [NN] tied by Charing Cross duplexes and addressed to Lima, Peru. Some oiling and staining on both sides, but an unusual destination
