Lot 1323		Estimate: $20,000 Realised Price : $15,000 Cyrus Mason: Handpainted in blue on card, based upon the contemporary Van Diemen\\\'s Land 4d, re-affixed to its rightful position on original tender document (which appeared on the market only in 1993). In the document, Mason signed as successor to Thomas Ham (who engraved and printed the earlier \\\'Half-length\\\' and \\\'Queen-on-Throne\\\' stamps of Victoria). Essay ex Rundell, Purves, Perry. Lot 1330		Estimate: $25,000 Realised Price : $40,000 Plate Proofs: 2d in pale lilac on vertically laid paper, rouletted at top and at base, fine impression and delicate shade as in the original unwatermarked printings of Calvert\\\'s 2d (SG 45/a), remarkably POSTALLY USED together with issued 4d vertically laid paper and Half-length 3d bright blue (SG 68, 29) on 1858 (16 Oct) entire letter, adhesives tied by Barred Numeral \\\'1\\\', from Melbourne to U.K. per \\\'Victoria\\\', paying 9d rate via Marseilles. The 2d is believed to derive from a proof sheet which was subsequently rouletted and placed in to stock at Melbourne G.P.O. This is the only recorded example on or off cover.
