Golden Yellow (from the first printing) and 2d Laureate Wmk. ‘2’ (both large margins all round) cancelled ‘81’ on 1856 (17 May) registered outer from Warwick to Ipswich. Reverse with Warwick, Drayton and Ipswich arrival (MY 20 1856) ds. The adhesives pay the double inland rate (2 x 2d) plus the 6d registration fee. The (6d) registration stamp had been issued in January 1856, and the use of ordinary stamps to pay registration after that date is very unusual. Ex ‘Manwood’.
