Ex Jaffé Six examples were prepared at the request of Ormond Hill in 1861, and presented to colleagues, including his uncle, Rowland Hill. Four examples of the 1/- have been recorded of which this is the lower example from a vertical pair; another example is in the Royal Philatelic Collection

Lot 512		Estimate: $1,000 Realised Price : $800 1861 Wmk Swan Perf 14 at Somerset House 2d Blue and 1/- Yellow-Green optd Samuel Type GB6. Both with small thins and each with a small hole curt in the stamps, apparently officially, 1/- with adhesions on reverse from previous affixing. Very rare despite faults The Type GB6 overprint was normally used at Somerset House on British stamps. The 1/- with Somerset House perforation is a proof that was never issued
