1934 (17 Sep) registered cover originating at Valence, bearing rare French franking including 1926-27 War Orphan's Fund 50c + 10c pair and 5f + 1f, endorsed 'Londres - Australie/per Sir Alan Cobham/Via Londres' and carried by Cobham in his Airspeed Courier on the 22 Sep 1934 failed attempt to fly non-stop England - India. Backstamps of Pondicherry (2, and on front 30 Sep arrival), Madras (3), Bombay (2) and on return to France (Bouchet 3 Dec). Minor cover blemishes not detracting from this spectacular exhibition item
