    1909-10 Watermark Crown over Double-lined A Thick Paper Perf 11 1d Rose and Yellow-green Die II showing variety 'Notch in Top Frame 1mm From Left Corner' (Frame plate 2, No. 115), slightly toned otherwise very fine and cancelled by Queensland cds 24 DE 14. A very rare stamp that is rarely offered for sale, with 2003 RPSV Certificate. BW D79, cat AU$3250, SG D74, cat £1400

The 8d Blank Base on cover is very scarce (BW cat AU$250). Opened two sides and with usual spike hole, otherwise fine

Two spike holes and a little tatty along top (with 1.5cm tear), but a scarce franking

A very unusual use of postage dues to prepay postage, with manuscript 'reported' and initialled, presumably relating to improper use of the postage due stamps. Fine and rare

Block of 12 C of A Wmk 1d postage dues affixed to reverse cancelled Oberon cds 24 DE 34, and with 9d Macarthur on front cancelled by same cds, used in lieu of postage due stamp. Fine, and a very unusual usage, with 1990 RPSL Certificate

    1937 (Dec) cover from England addressed to a passenger on board SS 'Strathuan', with attempts to deliver at both Marseilles and Egypt, and eventually readdressed to Sydney and then to Melbourne (arriving 7 Feb 1938) Initially underpaid, with handstruck '2D/F.B./K' GB 2d postage due affixed cancelled at London, French 1c, 10c and 30c postage dues added cancelled at Marseilles, and finally C of A Wmk 1d postage due pair tied by Sydney cds. Numerous backstamps, instructional marks and notations, fine and 'full of character', a rare cover bearing the postage due stamps of three countries

    1947 (3 Jun) cover with 2½d tied by Melbourne machine cancel, handstruck 'CONTAINS VALUABLE ENCLOSURE' in violet and with Dead Letter Office ds in same colour. Returned to sender inside OHMS 'RETURNED REGISTERED LETTER' from Elizabeth Street with 'T' in oval in red with mss '3', 3d postage due affixed tied by straight-line '24 JUN 1947' to collect the 3d registration fee. Fine and unusual with the original letter
