1854-60 2d Diadem Plate Proof Sheet of 120 in Black on wove paper with holes punched in positions 11, 12, 24, 36, 73, 97, 104 & 105 to indicate where repairs were required. The reverse bears manuscript notation 'The perforated labels to be renewed as speedily as possibly' and signed and dated by Thomas Richards with a Treasury handstamp of the same day. Heavily creased in places though a unique and extraordinary Exhibition item. Ex Osborne and White. Illustrated in Volume IV of the Robson Lowe Encyclopaedia

1854-60 Diadems Imperf 2d Blue Plate II strip of 3 (touched top and right) used on 1860 (12 Dec) cover from Sydney to Gladstone Qld, cancelled 'NSW' duplex, endorsed 'per Telegraph', reverse with Brisbane transit and Gladstone arrival (DE 22 60) datestamps. The Imperf 2d Plate II were only issued in Queensland, and this very rare use in New South Wales was possibly by a traveller writing home.
