Welcome to our 79th sale, which was an online auction only, comprising 1,150 lots featuring a wide range of Australasian material.
The Australian Colonies are highlighted by a fine collection of New South Wales and Victorian Postage Dues which includes most of the rarities, including the unique N.S.W. 1d imperforate between pair. From Tasmania there is a detailed study of the Savings Bank Packets and the concessionary rates which applied.
Australian Commonwealth includes a selection of bicoloured Kangaroos with plate varieties, and a £2 Small Multiple Wmk, imprint pair. An old-time collection of George V issues has been suitably broken up, and includes monograms and imprints, rare plate varieties, with highlights including a 4d perforated colour trial, the 4d olive Single Wmk, inverted, and a spectacular 1½d Red pair with offset.
Queen Elizabeth issues include a good range of sunken die proofs, further rare die proofs are offered of the early decimal issues, and there are examples of the very rare major retouches on the 7c Queen.
An excellent range of early stamp booklets includes several of the very rare £1 booklets, and the 1930 airmail booklet with ‘Long Wing to Plane’ variety. A major collection of Postage Due issues includes a good range of monograms and imprints as well as most of the monocolour rarities, and an exceptional group of U.P.U. specimen stamps including those with receiving handstamps.
Postal Stationery includes postal card and envelope rarities, a large collection of registration envelopes, and a wide range of 1d George V Sideface lettercards.
A small group of Rest of the World includes a range of French Colonial die proofs and deluxe proofs.
