    THE WILLIAM MCCREDIE COLLECTION, SPECIMEN AND UPU STAMPS, KANGAROO ISSUES

    1913 First Wmk Collector's Set comprising ½d to 5/- CTO and 10/-, £1 and £2 optd italic 'Specimen' plus 1d Engraved CTO (2). The ½d, 1d, 3d, 5d, 9d, 1/-, 2/-, 5/- and 1d Engraved are quarter cancels, all probably DE 5 13, and the 2½d and 6d apparently have abnormal 'G.P.O./MELBOURNE' datestamps. Also additional 1d, 2½d and 3d with DE 3 13 cancels with flat-top '3', 2½d with '31' date, and 1d Engraved with 1914 date. Some stamps no gum, and the three specimens heavily hinged, still a good lot for the specialist in these stamps (22)

    [Note: These stamps were originally affixed to a board inscribed 'CURRENT STAMP ISSUES.' which is believed to have been on display at the Melbourne G.P.O. in the 1930s. Colour photocopy of 2004 Ceremuga Certificate (which illustrates the board intact) accompanies the lot.]
