    A mint or unused selection, comprising, 1d Scarlet, 1d Dull Red, 3d Blue-green, 3d Yellow-green, 3d Dull Green Wmk ‘6’, 5d Bluish-green, 5d Sea-green, 5d Dark Bluish-green, 6d Reddish-purple, 6d Mauve, 6d Purple, 8d Orange, 8d Yellow-orange, 8d Yellow, 1/- Crimson-lake and 1/- Carmine. Most have part original gum, few small faults as is to be expected but a difficult group to assemble. SG Cat. £2190 (16)

    3d Blue-green block of six with large part original brownish gum, some perf. separation reinforced with hinges, otherwise very fine and scarce. SG 158, Cat. £480+

    3d Yellow-green and 3d Dull Green Watermark Double-lined ‘6’ both unused without gum, rough perforations but scarce. SG 157a, Cat. £320 (2)

    5d Dark Bluish-green left marginal with large part original gum, and showing printed burélage in left selvedge. Very fine and rare.

    6d Violet Plate II from worn plate block of four from top of sheet with part original brownish gum, off-centre to right, and reinforced with hinges, but a scarce block. SG 166, Cat. £360+

    -: block of six and four, latter from worn plate, very fine used, the block of six with some perf. reinforcement, both cancelled ray type ‘64’ of Maitland. Scarce in blocks, SG 166, Cat. £65+ (10) (no photo)

    6d Aniline Mauve Watermark Inverted, a fine used example of this scarce shade cancelled Sydney duplex of JA 20 72. SG 167, Cat. £120

    8d Yellow-orange (3) tied by Sydney duplex to 1870 (2 Dec) entire to Charente, France. Endorsed ‘via Marseilles’ with ‘PD’ in red and handstruck ‘8’ (decimes) incoming charge on face, and arrival datestamp on reverse. Horizontal and vertical filing folds, otherwise a fine example of the 3 x 8d paying triple rate

    1/- Crimson-lake left marginal block of four with part original brownish gum, and showing printed burélage in left margin and two small gum thins. Minor perf. separation, otherwise very fine and rare

    The remainder of the mint collection, comprising 1d Scarlet, 3d shades (7), 5d Dark bluish-green pair and singles (2), and 1/- Rose-carmine. Most with part o.g., some small faults but a useful group with high catalogue value. Also 3d, 5d, 8d and 1/- optd. diagonal ‘SPECIMEN’ (17)

    The used collection, comprising 1d (23 incl six pairs), 3d (28 incl three pairs), 3d Wmk ‘6’ (26 incl four pairs, a strip of three and block of four), 5d (18 incl two pairs), 6d (42, incl six pairs, strip of three and block of 4), 6d Wmk. ‘5’ (5), 6d Wmk. ‘12’ (5), 8d (20), 1/- (22, incl two strips of three and block of four). A comprehensive lot with most catalogued shades represented, and many fine stamps included. Also seven covers, comprising 1d pair on 1863 cover from Sydney to Muswellbrook, 6d on 1863 cover from Casino to London, and on two 1863 covers from Sydney to Adelaide, 6d used with 2d DLR pairs on 1864 and 1868 covers to England, and 8d on 1877 front to England (189 plus 7 covers)
