    Yellow-green with good even margins and part gum. The stamp is somewhat soiled and a portion of the margin at top left corner, and small portion of the lower right corner impinging on the design have been reaffixed with hinges. Ex Ginger, with 1956 RPSL Certificate describing only the lower right defect. SG 39, Cat. £5500

    Yellow-green pos. [19, variety ‘no whip’] with good to large margins tied by Sydney obliterator to 1852 (17 Apr) outer to Van Diemen’s Land. Endorsed ‘p "Water Lilly" ’ and with ‘PAID SHIP LETTER/SYDNEY’ datestamp of AP 17 1850 in red on face, and boxed ‘SHIP LETTER’ (7 MY 7 1850) and Launceston (8 MY 8 1850) datestamps on reverse. Rated ‘5’(d) as an incoming ship letter. Some tears in back flap and vertical filing fold, otherwise an extremely fine example of the 3d intercolonial ship letter rate, ex Slade Slade

    Yellow-green pos. [22, variety ‘no S.E. ray in upper left corner’] very fine impression with good even margins all round tied by Sydney obliterator to 1852 (18 May) outer to London. Endorsed ‘p Senator’ and with ‘SHIP LETTER/SYDNEY’ and London arrival (1 OC 1852) datestamps on reverse. Rated ‘8’(d) as an incoming ship letter. Two vertical filing folds, and another very fine usage, ex Caspary, Wilson and ‘Espana’

    Yellow-green horizontal strip of three pos. [18-20, [18] and [19] being variety ‘no whip’] very fine impression with small to good margins in combination with 1d Plate I Pale Red on Bluish with small even margins all round tied by ‘2’ numerals to 1852 (10 Aug) double rate ship letter from Parramatta to London. ‘PAID SHIP LETTER/ SYDNEY’ datestamp on face, and weak Parramatta despatch and London arrival (2 JA 1851) datestamps on reverse. Manuscript ‘1/4’ representing the 2 x 8d incoming ship letter charge. Left flap missing, otherwise a very fine and clean cover. Only four Sydney View covers showing the 2 x 5d inland + ship letter rate are recorded, one being in the Vickery collection in the Powerhouse Museum, Sydney. Two of these bear a strip of three 3d in combination with a 1d, of which this is by far the finest. One of the finest and most important Sydney View covers extant, from the Burrus and Butterwick collections

    Myrtle-green horizontal strip of three pos. [11-13] clear to large margins cancelled ‘71’ numerals of Tamworth. Heavy crease between second and third units, and tiny pinhole in first unit, but of generally fine appearance and the only recorded multiple of the myrtle-green shade. A very important Sydney View piece, from the Ginger, Hutson and ‘Manwood’ collections. SG 40, Cat. £3900+

PAID SHIP LETTER/SYDNEY red despatch datestamp and manuscript ‘8(d) incoming ship letter charge on face, with London arrival datestamp on reverse. Some slight soiling and with heavy horizontal and vertical filing folds. Signed ‘AD(iena)’ and ‘W Balasse’, ex C.L. Pack and ‘Espana’
