Six examples were prepared at the request of Ormond Hill in 1861, and presented to colleagues, including his uncle, Rowland Hill. Four examples of the 1/- have been recorded of which this is the lower example from a vertical pair; another example is in the Royal Philatelic Collection

The Type GB6 overprint was normally used at Somerset House on British stamps. The 1/- with
Somerset House perforation is a proof that was never issued
