Six examples were prepared at the request of Ormond Hill in 1861, and presented to colleagues, including his uncle, Rowland Hill. Four examples of the (6d) Registered have been recorded from the horizontal block of six, of which this is No. 1; No. 4 is in the Royal Philatelic Collection. This stamp is a recent discovery subsequent to the publication of ‘Cancelled by Perkins Bacon’ by P. Jaffé (1998) |
