    Estimate: $4,000 Realised Price : $3,000

    Deep Ultramarine horizontal strip of four pos. [41-44] worn impression unused, good margins left and top, just cut into at right and touched at bottom left. Ironed-out vertical crease and small stain on [44], and small repaired tear in top margin of [41] just impinging on design. Fine appearance and a very important unused multiple. The largest recorded multiple of the 2d Plate II is a block of six in the Royal Philatelic collection. This strip is the only other unused multiple which can be traced; it was in the C.B. Donne collection in 1911, and later in the C.L. Pack collection. SG 62, Cat. £5200+

    Deep Ultramarine horizontal strip of three pos. [37-39] worn impression good to very large margins showing portions of units at base, cancelled indistinct numeral. SG 62, Cat. £330+

     

    Lot 378
    Estimate: $2,500

    2d Laureate Plate II early and worn impressions, reconstruction of the engraved plate of 50. The condition is far better than that usually seen with the large majority of stamps fine four-margin examples, with all printings represented, [23] being variety ‘WAEES’ and [42] showing small portion of imprint. Minimum SG Cat. £5000 (50)

    2d Laureate - the remainder of Plate II comprising Early Impressions (13, incl one pair) and Worn impressions (5). Also a Worn impression used on 1852 (30 Jan) entire from West Maitland to Sydney. All hand-picked examples with full margins and a very fine group. SG Cat £1760 (18 + 1 cover)
