    (V250.2): Strike in blue on small 1865 (23 Oct) envelope (slight faults, soiling) with colourless 'THE GOVERNOR OF VICTORIA' embossed flap, endorsed 'Sir Charles Darling' at upper left, addressed to 'Sir Henry Barkly', the Governor of Mauritius (and preceding Governor of Victoria) without additional franking. Believed to be the earliest Governor cover

    (V250.2): Strike in black on 1873 (2 Jan) mourning envelope front (with most of flap) to the Governor of Ceylon, W.H. Gregory. Early and very scarce usage

    Estimate: $250T Realised Price : $190

    (V250.2): Strike in red on 1877 envelope to UK 'via Brindisi', in violet on 1883 (missing small part of flap); (V250.7) in violet on 1902 Malvern to UK with Official paid handstamp; (V250.8) in violet on 1892 (crease), and in blue on 1898 (5 items, 4 with crest on flap)

    (V250.2): Strike in red on 1877 (222x97mm, blue paper) 'via Brindisi' or 1878 small envelope 'via San Francisco' (former missing small portion at upper left, latter missing flap), each endorsed 'GF Bowen' (Sir George Bowen, Governor, former Governor of Queensland, Mauritius) and addressed to William Gregory (former Governor of Ceylon) (2)

    (V250.4): Strike in pink on 1884 envelope (178x115mm, blue crest on flap, minor faults). Rated rare by Karman and only recorded in violet

     

    Lot 400
    Estimate: $200T Realised Price : $260

    1885-97 envelopes with crest on flap in red, blue or black with (V250.4) in violet (rare), (V250.5) in violet (1888, rated extremely rare) or (V250.8) in blue, minor faults (3)

     

    Lot 401
    Estimate: $500T Realised Price : $380

    (V250.6): Strike in greenish black on 1891 (12 Jul) envelope to NSW, but returned. Karman rates extremely rare with no colours or dates recorded
