    Postal Stationery: Range of 1890s and 1900s postcards, mostly Victorian, and mostly addressed to well-known collectors (Rev Lane, W. Brettschneider, also Victoria ½d wrapper addressed to Van Weenan, and two Tasmania 1d embossed wrappers for 'The Federal Australian Philatelist' (also three blank order forms for the journal), and 1911 front to M.P. Castle franked with ½d NSW, Qld and Vic and 1d NSW and Vic. Condition mixed (22 items)

    Postal Cards: 1908 Visit of the American Great White Fleet 1d Rose (pale shade) uprated with ½d adhesive and used to Germany, cancelled Melbourne machine 12 DEC 10, a late usage, fine

    Frank Stamps: 'COMMR. OF CROWN LANDS & SURVEY' handstamped in blue on 1973-76 envelopes (7, 222 x 95mm, some handstamps very weak), and 'MINISTER OF LANDS AND SURVEY' handstamped in black or blue on 1878-83 envelopes (3, 222 x 95mm), many roughly opened with flap faults and other damage, and most with punched filing holes. A number are unclaimed with 'D.L.B.'VICTORIA' backstamps, and with other markings including 'UNCLAIMED AT/CAMPERDOWN' (1974), 'UNCLAIMED AT/STAWELL' (1873), 'NOT KNOWN BY/LETTER CARRIERS' (Sandridge, 1978), 'MISSENT TO/STAWELL' (1883), and 1882 local Melbourne cover with boxed 'L.C. 2' datestamp. An interesting lot (10)

        

    Lot 157
    Estimate: $220

    Frank Stamps: 'MINISTER OF PUBLIC INSTRUCTION' handstamped in blue on 1873-75 (two later) envelopes (three sizes, 137 x 79mm, 222 x 95mm, 265 x 115mm), also two postcards, the majority with filing punch holes and a number roughly opened with flap or other damage, and a few with some soiling. Wide range of uses to mostly country towns, seven are registered, and many are unclaimed with 'D/L/B./VICTORIA' backstamps. Interesting range of datestamps, noted Redesdale, Langley, St. James, Green Hill, Darraweit Guim, Red Jacket, Shirley, Hit or Miss, Break O'Day, also unusual tiny boxed 'MISSENT TO/BRIDGEWATER ON LODDON'. A very interesting lot despite condition problems (25)
