    1905 (23 Nov) OPSO wrapper from Pelham unpaid with mss 'T2D' but only a single punctured 'T' 1d Pictorial paying postage due on arrival and tied by Hamilton cds

    Estimate: $250T

    Savings Bank Packets: 1882 (15 Sep) cover from Franklin to Hobart with 1d Sideface tied by '43' numeral, endorsed 'Savings Bank Packet Only' and '513/Registered', Hobart arrival cds on reverse. A special concession rate for savings bank books came into force on 1 January 1882 of 1d per 4oz with free registration included. To qualify, the packet had to be clearly marked with the contents, endorsed by the sender on the front, and could not contain any other written material. Cover with a few minor blemishes, but the earliest known example of the special concession rate

    Savings Bank Packets: 1885 (2 Feb) and (22 Jul) envelopes with printed 'SAVINGS BANK PACKET ONLY.' franked with 2d and 1d Sideface respectively and sent from Bracknell to Hobart. Both envelopes are without the sender's endorsement as required by regulation and unusual as such. Horizontal folds on each, and the earlier cover with some blemishes (2 covers)

    Savings Bank Packets: 1888 (3 Aug) envelope endorsed 'Savings Bank Business Only' and 1890 (14 Apr) envelope with printed 'SAVINGS BANK PACKET ONLY.' both franked 1d Sideface tied by '65' numeral and sent from Ouse to Hobart Both bear the manuscript endorsement 'Registered' but are without the registration number as required by regulation. The printed envelope with two horizontal folds, otherwise both very fine (2 covers)

    Savings Bank Packets: 1890 (5 May) envelope with printed 'SAVINGS BANK PACKET ONLY.', with 1d Sideface tied by '50' numeral (Invermay), sent unregistered to Hobart. At Hobart 'Officially Registered' added in manuscript, overstruck straight-line 'REGISTERED'. Envelope with two horizontal bends, one affecting adhesive, but a scarce example of the 1d concessionary rate from a country post office

    Savings Bank Packets: 1892 (1 Mar) 1d Red Embossed stamped-to-order envelope (136 x 80mm) for the Hobart Savings Bank inscribed 'Savings Bank Packet Only', cancelled Hobart duplex and used to Franklin at the special 1d concession rate, with chamfered boxed Hobart Registration handstamp in red, very fine, the envelope rated R by Groom & Shatten

    Savings Bank Packets: 1892 (19 May) customer-made registered wrapper front endorsed 'Savings Bank Packet only', franked 1d Sideface tied by numeral and with New Norfolk despatch cds, and with 'R' in circle, addressed to Hobart. Believed to be the earliest known use of the 'R' in circle handstamp on registered mail.

Flap tears and vertical crease, the envelope rated R by Groom & Shatten

    Savings Bank Packets: 1904 (24 Feb) 1d Red Embossed stamped-to-order envelope (178 x 126mm) for the Hobart Savings Bank, with printed 'Savings Bank Packet Only', cancelled Hobart duplex, and with chamfered boxed 'REGISTERED/HOBART' handstamp in violet, addressed to New Norfolk (arrival backstamp) at 1d special concession rate. Short tear at top of envelope, otherwise fine and rate R by Groom & Shatten

    Savings Bank Packets: 1896 (27 Jan) envelope front with printed 'SAVINGS BANK PACKET ONLY' sent unpaid from Sulphur Creek with '397' numeral struck and addressed to Hobart. At Hobart the 'OFFICIALLY/REGISTERED/.....TO PAY' handstamp in blue was applied with '2d' to pay, representing double the 1d special concession rate deficiency. 2d Sideface affixed and tied by 'INSUFFICIENTLY STAMPED'. Horizontal fold does not detract from this exceptional usage

    Savings Bank Packets: 1896 (16 Nov) home-made wrapper endorsed 'Savings Bank packet only' and 'Registered', franked with 1d Sideface tied by Launceston duplex for the special concession rate, 'R' in oval, addressed to Hobart (arrival cds). Fine and unusual

    Estimate: $120T Realised Price : $90

    Savings Bank Packets: 1897 (22 Feb) and 1899 (1 May) envelope fronts with printed 'SAVINGS BANK PACKET ONLY', the first from Macquarie Plains with 2d Sideface tied '342' numeral, the other from New Norfolk with 1d Sideface tied '63' numeral, both with 'R' in circle and addressed to Hobart, illustrating the double and single special concessionary rates. Each front with horizontal fold, otherwise fine (2 covers)

    Savings Bank Packets: 1898 (15 Jan) 'PASS BOOK ONLY' registered envelope (175 x 113mm) of The Commercial Bank of Tasmania, printed heading scored through and franked with 10d Sideface and 3d Platypus postal fiscal, tied by Hobart duplexes, addressed to Bangkok, Siam. With faint chamfered boxed Hobart registration handstamp and 'R' in oval and Bangkok arrival backstamp (26 2 98). The special concession rate did not apply to overseas mail. 1/3d postage represents the 4 x ½oz U.P.U. rate plus 3d registration fee. Fine, a scarce franking and a most unusual destination

    Savings Bank Packets: 1899 (date from endorsement on reverse) envelope front with printed 'SAVINGS BANK PACKET ONLY.' with 1d Sideface tied by multiple strikes of Glenora(?) cds, sent unregistered to Hobart. At Hobart endorsed 'OR' in manuscript and 'OFFICIALLY/REGISTERED/......TO PAY' handstamp in blue applied (no postage due as registration was covered by the 1d concessionary rate. Front with horizontal fold, otherwise fine and very scarce, less than 10 officially registered items are recorded

    Savings Bank Packets: 1896 (28 Feb) envelope front with printed 'SAVINGS BANK PACKET ONLY.' with 1d Sideface tied by '?9' numeral (Kellys Point) sent unregistered and addressed to Hobart. At Hobart the 'OFFICIALLY/REGISTERED/......TO PAY' without any amount entered as the 1d concessionary rate covered the registration fee. Minor blemishes but very scarce, less than 10 officially registered Savi Packets are recorded

    Savings Bank Packets: 1900 (15 Feb) 1d Red Embossed stamped-to-order envelope (137 x 77mm) for the Hobart Savings Bank with printed 'Savings Bank Packet Only.', cancelled Hobart cds and with chamfered boxed 'REGISTERED/HOBART' handstamp in violet and 'R' in oval, addressed to New Norfolk (arrival backstamps) at 1d special concession rate. Envelope with pink stain at base, rated 'R' by Groom & Shatten

Both envelopes meet the 1d special concession rate but abnormally were sent unregistered (2 covers)

    Savings Bank Packets: 1904 (25 Jul) 1d Red Embossed stamped-to-order envelope (171 x 129mm) for Savings Bank for Launceston, with printed 'SAVINGS BANK PACKET ONLY.', cancelled Launceston cds and addressed to Boobyalla at the 1d special concession rate, chamfered boxed 'REGISTERED/LAUNCESTON' handstamp and 'R' in oval, very fine. The envelope rated 'R' by Groom & Shatten

Upper two-thirds of envelope front toned, however the Launceston envelopes appear to be scarcer than those from Hobart

This cover meets the regulations for the 1d concessionary rate, but has been sent unregistered, minor blemishes
