    1829 entire letter headed 'Hobart Town 27th Oct 1829' to England, with fine strike of undated 'HOBART TOWN V.D.L.' handstamp in black, rated '1/8', framed 'INDIA LETTER/PORTSMOUTH' in red, arrival backstamp. Rarely seen so fine

    1845 (29 Sep) entire letter headed 'Shell Island' from Mary Robson to Hobart Town, endorsed 'Paid' and '4'. Hobart segmented datestamp applied for inward paid mail. [The Robson family harvested shells for making lime]

    1856 dated (25 Dec) front from Ouse to England bearing Chalons 4d (2, both with four margins, small tear on one), cancelled with pen strokes, Liverpool Ship Letter arrival 7 Jan 1857. It was a peculiar affliction of the Ouse postmaster to date all letters using the month of December!
