    Estimate: $750T Realised Price : $950

    1853 Locally Printed: 1d Pale Blue on Medium Soft Yellowish Paper, close to touching all sides, and thinned, and 1d Blue on Thin Hard White Paper (3), all with four adequate margins, one mss cancel with pin-hole, other two good condition. SG cat £5400 (4)

    Estimate: $5,500T

    1853 Locally Printed: 1d Pale Blue on Medium Soft Yellowish Paper horizontal strip of 4 used on large part front with top flap addressed to Campbell Town with boxed arrival ds 11 Mar (55). The strip (lifted and hinged back in place) has small margins all round except touched at top right, the last unit with a pre-printing paper crease, and is cancelled by mss pen 'New Town 46/10-3-55' and overstruck '55' Barred Numerals of Spring Hill (apparently a misdirection of the cover) - the only known examples of this obliterator. Some minor soiling, however a major rarity in fine condition, with 2004 Randall Askeland opinion of genuineness

    1853 Locally Printed: Group of 4d 'Couriers', with Plate I Orange (pos 9, small thins, and pos 18), Plate II Bright Red-orange (2, one pos 10 apparently unused but possibly cleaned, and pos 21), and Plate II Dull Orange (pos 22). Two just touched in places, and a couple with small faults (5)

    1853 Locally Printed: 4d Orange Plate II (pos 19 cut-to-shape but showing portion of imprint at base) tied by '61' Barred Numeral on 1855 (17 Jul) cover to Melbourne 'p Lady Bird', torn back flap otherwise of good appearance

    1853 Locally Printed: Selection of reprints from the defaced plates, with 1879 4d Brownish-orange Plate I (pos 9) on unwatermarked paper Perf 11½ (scarce), 1889 Imperf on Thin Card 1d Pale Blue (pos 24 from bottom right corner with imprint), 4d Yellow-brown Plate I block of 4 (pos 13-14/19-20 with imprint), and 4d Plate II Pale Yellow-brown (pos 9). Fine and attractive (7)

With 'R' in oval and 'REGISTERED/HOBART' chamfered boxed ds in blue. Some minor faults, including peripheral wear at base, but a spectacular philatelic franking

Small portion missing at lower left resulting from opening, otherwise fine
