    'On Public Service Only' cover bearing 'TASMANIAN RAILWAYS' Frank Stamp with printed 'Tasmanian Government/Railways.’ imprint at lower left. Addressed to Eastborne though without any postal markings whatsoever and possibly carried privately. Faint creasing and toning and flap damage though unusual use of this frank stamp

    1883 (22 Sep) printed 'On Public Service Only' cover bearing 'The Treasury' Frank Stamp and used from Hobart to Forth, the lower left with 'Treasury.' handstamp and with central vertical fold, otherwise fine. The earliest recorded example of a Tasmanian Frank, the system commencing just six weeks prior. Ex Karman. Exhibition item

    c1895 'On Public Service only.' cover bearing 'Marine Board Launceston' Frank Stamp with printed insignia at lower left. Addressed locally without postal marking and probably carried by hand. Small stains and light creases though still attractive

Cover bearing 'MARINE BOARD HOBART' Frank Stamp (2, one strike weak in places) and 'Marine Board,/Hobart,(date)188,}' imprint at lower left and used locally at Hobart. Struck with the 'CAN NOT BE/FOUND' handstamp and the 15 line 'NOT KNOWN' handstamp in red on reverse indicating different days of attempted delivery. Rare and fine

Penalty cover (reduced at right) endorsed 'Sandy Bay/2.5.1901' at lower left and signed at upper right authorising free postage and sent registered to Snug River via Hobart where framed 'REGISTERED/788 7/HOBART' applied. Few minor peripheral faults otherwise fine

    1902 (20 Feb) 'ON PUBLIC SERVICE ONLY.' cover bearing 'HOSPITAL FOR THE INSANE NEW NORFOLK' Frank Stamp in Black used New Norfolk to Hobart with printed 'Hospital for the Insane,/New Norfolk, Tasmania' inscription at lower left. The rear with toning though the face fine

    1902 (4 Apr) 'ON PUBLIC SERVICE ONLY.' cover headed 'Devonport Town Board' and space for signature of Chairman used at West Devonport to Sydney. Some toning though an unusual example of a signature 'frank' authorising free postage

    1903 (20 Aug) 'On Public Service Only.' cover bearing 'SECRETARY GENERAL POST OFFICE' Frank Stamp in magenta with printed 'Post and Telegraph Department./ Tasmania.' at lower left and used locally at Hobart. The addressee a Tattersalls alias and with torn remnant of a Tattersalls receipt at left. Few peripheral faults though a very unusual use

    1889-1911 mostly used selection on cover comprising; Attorney General (2), Chief Secretary (apparently in Gray and unrecorded thus), Corporation of Hobart, Corporation of Launceston, Council of Agriculture, Crown Solicitor, Dept of Public Works, Dept of Taxes, Dept of Govt Printer, Education Dept Electric Telegraph, Government Statistician (3), Governor of Tasmania (5, 3 to England one of which is redirected to Germany without additional charges), House of Assembly, HQ Defence Forces, International Exhibition (2), Minister of Lands, Office of Taxes (5), Secretary GPO (4, 1 registered), Surveyor General (3), Tasmanian Railways (2), Treasury (2) and OPSO Birth Registration covers (2, both without frank stamps) plus cut-outs for Hospital for the Insane New Norfolk, Secretary of Mines, Chief Inspector of Sheep and Postmaster Launceston. Some with defects though many fine (47)
