Travelling Post Offices: Range of useful material arranged on hagners, pre-Federation covers include 1886 and 1894 registration envelopes, 1882 cover to Sydney with 1d pair cancelled circular 'G.N.R.P./N.S.W.', and 1888 1d 'OS' stationery envelope with Travelling Post Office No. 3 West backstamp. From the Commonwealth period there is a wide range of covers up to modern and souvenir material. Also several pages of TPO postmarks on piece or loose stamps. Some faults, but there are many items of interest (42 covers, approx 50 stamps or pieces, plus other ancillary material)
1893 (9 Sep) cover addressed to Sydney with 2d Centennial tied by 'TRAVELLING P.O. No. 3 SOUTH A' cds, with a further strike alongside, apparently opened with manuscript 'Received in this torn state at T.P.O.' on reverse, and sealed with oval 'TRAVELLING P.O./SOUTH No. 3' wax mail bag seal. Believed to be the only recorded use of a T.P.O. mail bag seal on cover
1936 (21 Mar?) cover to Bendigo with 2d KGV tied by Melbourne cds on arrival, with alongside boxed 'Posted in Late Fee/letter receiver at/ALBURY RAILWAY STATION/TO PAY 1d' (the last line very weak)
1937 (Mar, Apr, Aug) three covers to Sydney with 2d KGV tied by 'T.P.O. 1 WEST/2/N.S.W.' cds, and with straight-line 'MOLONG HALF HOLIDAY' in violet, and 1938 (26 May) cover to Sydney with 2d KHVI tied by 'POSTED ON TRAIN/1/N.S.W.' cds, and with 'POST OFFICE/HALF HOLIDAY' in violet. Also 1949 small piece with 2½d Von Mueller tied by similar datestamp with straight-line 'POSTED AT UARDRY' in violet alongside (4 covers + 1 piece)
1937 (25 Aug) airmail cover to England franked three 1932 6d Kooka tied by 'T.P.O. 2 WEST/2/N.S.W. cds, and with boxed 'Posted at/CHARLTON SIDING' (weak in places but legible). Small tear at top of cover, however very scarce
