Lot 68		Estimate: $600 Realised Price : $650 Used and duplicated selection of imperforate Diadems comprising 1d (39 - inc six pairs, a strip of three and one perforated), 3d (17 - inc a pair and one on piece), 5d (2) 6d (37 - inc two pairs, one wmk inverted, one wmk '8' and another with 1981 APS Certificate) and 1/- (21 - one from right of sheet with large margin and two wmk '8'). Very fine to poor with an excellent range of shades (99)
Lot 69		Estimate: $12,000 Die Proofs on thick card comprising 1d in Deep Scarlet (55 x 70mm), 2d in Deep Blue (57 x 77mm), 3d in Bright Green (58 x 73mm), 5d in Violet (70 x 57mm), 8d in Red-brown (68 x 52mm) and 1/- in Rose-Carmine (55 x 69mm), occasional minor surface marks, otherwise superb Said to have been pulled by De La Rue for the 1867 Paris Exhibition (or perhaps the 1872 South Kensington Exhibition), it has been stated that three sets of proofs were pulled. The set offered here is from the Dr W.R.D. Wiggins Collection; a second set is in the British Library and a third set (on thin wove paper and cut down to framelines at sides) was in the Hutson Collection. Magnificent showpiece proofs

Lot 77		Estimate: $900 Realised Price : $675 2d Plate I Retouched: First Retouch - 2d Dull Blue [24, lines above and below 'TWO PENCE' redrawn], and Deep Dull Blue pair [103-104, 104 with extensive re-drawing of Diadem, hair and at base of neck]; Third Retouch - 2d Dull Blue horizontal pair [35-36, [36] retouched to left and right of 'SOUTH' and above 'WALES']; 2d Cobalt Blue [49, retouched above 'NEW' and left of 'SOUTH'], [104, showing very extensive redrawing of right side panels and background to head] (2, used at Wagga Wagga and Walgett) and [105, left side panels retouched]. Majority with four margins and mostly fine (9 incl two pairs)
Lot 78		Estimate: $10,000 Realised Price : $8,500 2d Plate II block of six (2 x 3) from base of the sheet with margins all around and large part o.g. Vertically and horizontally creased and a brown erosion hole in the second unit nevertheless it is the largest recorded multiple. An outstanding exhibition piece. Lot 82		Estimate: $3,000 Lithographic Transfer of Plate I: 2d Pale Blue horizontal pair [109-110], both showing retouches to bottom frame, large margins in places, just into at right and top, cancelled ray type '66' of Singleton. Very few examples of these two retouches are recorded and this pair showing both is unique, ex Hutson and 'Manwood' and is illustrated in Hutson's The Stamps of New South Wales on page 34. Arguably the most important 2d lithograph piece extant. SG 118a Cat £5000+
Lot 83		Estimate: $1,000 Lithographic Transfer of Plate I: 2d Pale Blue clear to small margins all round, cancelled by 'NSW' in concentric ovals on 1859 (13 Aug) OHMS outer from Sydney to "Camp/near Gloucester". Sydney despatch and Raymond Terrace and Stroud (AU 16 1859) datestamps on reverse. Light horizontal crease along top (barely affecting the adhesive), also mss notations and peripheral staining. A very rare use of this stamp on cover, with approx eight 2d Lithograph covers recorded, of which this is the earliest known use. Ex Slade Slade

With London PAID ds in red (OC 14 59), '5/N. YORK AM PKT' arrival ds (OCT 26), and mss '8' accountancy mark. Very fine, and the only recorded use of the 2d lithograph on an overseas cover or in combination with another value. Ex Wiggins and 'Manwood'

Thinned toward the base (only visible from rear) however a rare stamp guaranteed not to be cut-down and possibly the earliest dated copy known having only been issued three weeks earlier.
