1947 'PAKISTAN' Overprints on India, a large bundle of album pages and mounted booklets with a bewildering array of the provisional handstamps created by local post offices after Partition from India, both mint and used with many multiples. Many different types are represented and in most cases allocated to their respective post offices, also a good range of the typewritten provisionals as well. A number of errors (inverted, double or omitted handstamps) were noted. Apart from the KGVI issues (Ordinary and Service) to 25r, there is good representation of the obsolete KGV stamps. About 50 covers and items of postal stationery are also included. A very impressive lot which as it stands could be converted into an excellent exhibit, or provide the basis for a much deeper study of the subject. A brief comparison of the materials with the priced catalogue by M. Arif Balgamwala published in 2000 revealed numerous stamps catalogued at 2000r and 3000r each (approx 2000) |
